Congressan Adam Kinzinger on Meet The Press: "We Refuse to Fail"

Making his first appearance on Meet The Press this morning, Illinois 11th Congressional District Congressman Adam Kinzinger stated (starting at 9:05), "My grandfather fought in World War II, and I remember him in tears when he tried to recount his experiences just before he died, he couldn't do it.  I think of the generations from the men who signed the Declaration of Independence that said, this is going to cost us our life, but we're going to do it.  And the generations of people like Senator Hegel who fought, like when I was in Iraq and Afghanistan and the people I fought with.  The investment we've made in this country, we refuse to fail. I absolutely refuse to say that this is something we can't do, that we're accepting second best.  America is the greatest country in the world and we're going to pull through."

Adam Kinzinger will be on Meet The Press this morning

Illinois 11th Congressional District Congressman Adam Kinzinger will join a Meet The Press Roundtable this morning to discuss whether--in light of the collapse of debt ceiling talks--Washington can get anything done.


Kinginzer will be joined by Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Presidential Historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, NBC's Andrea Mitchell, and Former Nebraska Senator Chuck Hegel.   For Will County viewers, Meet The Press starts at 9:30 on NBC Channel 5. 


Kinzinger voted in favor of the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act, and released a statement explaining his vote.


Earlier this month, Kinzinger discussed the debt ceiling on the floor of the US House of Representatives, stating, ""we have a spending problem in this country, we don't have a revenue problem in this country.  We have a problem with how much money we're spending."

Representative Adam Kinzinger to Discuss Debt Ceiling Debate and Unemployment

Recently, Kinzinger stated, with regard to the debt ceiling debate,  "we have a spending problem in this country, we don't have a revenue problem in this country.  We have a problem with how much money we're spending."


Kinzinger also made a speech on the floor of the House of Representatives regarding jobs.  Kinzinger stated: "It is absolutely time for us to get deadly serious about reducing the size of the federal government, cutting spending, and getting Americans back to work."  Also, Kinzinger remarked: "The Democrats believe that government creates jobs.  You hear that all the time in what they say, listen closely.  They say we just need a jobs bill, we need 800 billion in more spending, we need this program. What you're gonna hear tonight is the Republican view.  The federal government doesn't create jobs.  The federal government can make jobs. We can take tax money, put it through a bureaucracy and spit out a paycheck.  Jobs are created in the free market.  We can create an environment for job creation, and that's what our freshman class came here to do."
