Indivisible groups began across the United States after the election of Donald Trump.  Indivisible groups seek to replicate the Tea Party's success in organizing constituents to effectively influence members of Congress.

From the press release announcing the endorsement:

“The mission of the Indivisible movement is to cultivate and support a grassroots network of local groups to resist the Trump agenda, elect progressive leaders and realize bold progressive strategies. Supporting our hometown candidate – and her progressive platform – wholly aligns with our group’s core values,” said Lara Taylor, Indivisible La Grange/La Grange Park. “We are proud to support Marie in her endeavor to bring true Democratic values back to the Third District of Illinois.”

“When our group discussed and examined our core values, it became clear that Marie is the candidate who will fight for a progressive future in IL-3. We’re excited to endorse her as Indivisible Western Springs & Surrounding Communities and as her future constituents,” remarked Abby McEntee, Indivisible Western Springs & Surrounding Communities.
The endorsements for Ms. Newman by the Indivisible groups of Brookfield, La Grange/La Grange Park and Western Springs & Surrounding Communities add to a list of significant endorsements by individuals and organizations at the national and local levels. Additional endorsements include: Planned Parenthood Action Fund, EMILY’s List, Illinois Federation of Teachers, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Illinois Council, The Human Rights Campaign; Democracy for America, Congressman Luis Gutierrez, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and Gloria Steinem."
