Cory Singer Announces Candidacy for Will County Executive

Current Will County Board Member and Forest Preserve District of Will County Board of Commissioners President Cory Singer announced his candidacy for Will County Executive tonight in New Lenox.  Singer is a Republican from Frankfort.

Whoever is chosen as the Republican Candidate for Will County Executive will face incumbent Democrat Larry Walsh in the November 2012 election. Walsh has held the position since 2004.

In his speech, Singer stated, "Will County is a wonderful community with a unique identity in the Chicagoland Region, a tremendous place to live, a tremendous place to work and raise a family.  We have incredible resources....and while we've seen prosperity, I really believe Will County's best days are ahead of us.  I say this because I know you and so many others share the belief that our local government and our communities are here to serve, to function conservatively, and to be held accountable, and that is the example I intend to set as the Will County Executive."

Singer also discussed the recently redrawn Illinois congressional map that splits Will County into several Congressional district.  Singer argued current Will County Executive Larry Walsh has been silent on the new congressional map.  Singer stated, "He's been silently abdicating his responsibility to stand up for Will County when Will County needed a leader the most."
